Pelvic pain in men and women is when the pelvis becomes painful to touch or movement brings on pain. This can include any of the following: pain when sitting for long periods of time, or during sexual intercourse, or when passing urine or bowel movements. It may be made worse with prolonged standing or walking. The ache can be experienced in different places around the pelvic area. The heaviness, cramping and soreness you feel down there may also interfere with your quality of life. Pelvic floor physiotherapy helps reduce this pain by correcting muscular imbalances and mobilising the pelvic joints, allowing you to use your body more efficiently which reduces mis-loading of joints over time.
